PrésentationStefania Rubrichi is a research scientist at Orange Labs, within the SENSE (Sociology and Economics of Networks and Services) department. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pavia (Pavia, Italy), with a focus on medical decision support systems, based on the integration of methods of artificial intellicence with decision theory. She earned her Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Bioinformatics at University of Pavia with a thesis centered on the use of advanced natural language processing (NLP) techniques, machine-learning based, to extract information from medical text. After a postdoctoral position at University of Pavia and at University of Eastern Piedmont Amedeo Avogadro (Alessandria, Italy), in 2015, she also completed a M.Sc. in Mathematics for Data Science and Big Data at Ecole Polytechnique Paris (Paris, France), with an internship at Orange Labs on the use of mobile phone data for modeling the spread of infectious diseases. In 2016 Stefania joined Orange where she works at the interface between socio-economic and computational data science. She is interested in how large-scale behavioral datasets, notably mobile phone metadata, can be used in a secured and fair way, to tackle important societal challenges in areas such as public health, education, energy, and national statistics. She works closely with outstanding researchers, public agencies and NGOs to establish common frameworks and ecosystem that can help provide that information, to eventually improve the lives of billions of people and the environment in which they live.
